Bastogne is part of the walnut family and its heartwood colors vary from light golden yellow to red brown, sometimes with darker brown to nearly black streaks. Commonly used for gunstocks, veneer, fine furniture, turned objects, musical instruments (guitars), knife handles, and other small specialty items. Bastogne works with ease in both hand and machine processes. There is very little tendency to split when using nails or screws and its worked edges remain sharp. This Bastogne Burl live edge slab measures 4.89′ long x 47.24″ wide x 3.15″ deep. Click here to read about burls and other figure types.
